August 1, 2025 – Weekly Ways to Engage

Happy first day of August! The Alaska congressional delegation is on recess the entire month and they need to hear from you – continue to highlight the impacts of the Big, Ugly Bill including cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and many other life-saving programs.

We know it’s exhausting to keep up with these attacks on our values, so please find your way to both take action and take care of yourself. Read on for important actions you can take as well as upcoming events, and other ways to get involved in this week’s “Ways to Engage” series from Alaska Forward!

Upcoming Events – Mark your calendars and be sure to check out the MARCHAGAINST.ORG and ALASKADEMOCRATS.ORG centralized calendars for taking action in Alaska!

The next National Day of Action, Rage Against the Regime, is August 2 – To resist peacefully is to resist powerfully! Visit rageagainsttheregime.org to find events in your area and how you can engage.

Spenard Second Saturday Summer Social – Join your friends and neighbors at Blue Market AK on Saturday, Aug 9 for a sweet end-of-summer social! The parking lot will be transformed into a space for the community to gather, dance with bubbles, strum the guitar in the open mic, hula hoop, play “yard” games, share berry recipes, quench your thirst and fill your bellies with local beverages, snacks and treats. This family friendly event runs from noon to 6pm.
